While Avard may not subscribe to all their beliefs, these movements are "Rooted in the virulently racist and antisemitic Christian Identity religion...promoting conspiracy theories, often openly antisemitic, positing an 'internationalist' or 'global' entity that has conspired to overturn the original and intended meaning of the U.S. Constitution." (Institute for Research & Education on Human Rights). These groups have gone as far as to propose New Hampshire secede from the United States.
Avard has placed yard signs around the district claiming Melanie Levesque voted for an income tax. That is not true. The facts:
On June 25, 2021, the Granite State Paid Family Leave Plan for state employees was signed into law. Non-state employers with more than 50 employees and individuals will have the option to voluntarily participate in the plan. In 2019, as a State Senator, Levesque voted to make a similar paid family and medical leave insurance benefit available to all employees in the state, paid for by the employer. The bill (SB1) passed both houses of the legislature but was vetoed by the governor.
